The “Chris Cote For UNIV” surfboard project

31 December 2008

We’re proud to present the Chris Cote For UNIV surfboard project. The surfboard features the original artwork of surfing’s most illustrious character and Editor-In-Chief of Transworld Surf Magazine, Chris Cote.

The art and board is a colorful take on the weapons and contraband featured in popular streetwear prints of late. The surfboard is a progression in design and four-fin double-ender meant to be ridden both forward and backwards with ease! This winter, the Chris Cote For UNIV surfboard is going to be ridden by the world’s top surfers and highlighted in Transworld Surf Magazine. We also released a UNIV t-shirt featuring the graphic!

2008 Was A Very Good Year

28 December 2008

bikezz.jpg

A lot of great things happened in 2008 including our BMXtravaganza event to coincide with the release of the NikeSB Michael Lau Blazers. We outfitted custom UNIV 16-inch BMX bikes and had a race to the death in the parking lot. The winner took home the bike, bragging rights and the left pinkie of the loser. Not a bad way to spend a summer evening!

One of the artists featured in Beautiful Losers, Thomas has also had solo exhibitions in New York, Paris, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Morocco. In 1999, he completed his first feature length surfing film, The Seedling, and in 2004 released his second, Sprout. His new surf film The Present will be out in March 2009 and touring the country. The UNIV x Signal Snowboard Collaboration

24 December 2008

snow.jpg

Check out the UNIV snowboard collaboration with Signal Snowboards. The board is manufactured in partnership at Signal’s state-of-the-art “The Lodge” Factory in California, USA.  UNIV and Signal founder Dave Lee are old friends and we could not imagine a better brand to affiliate with. Signal’s dedication to snowboarding and keeping it real is commendable.

The board is 155 cm long with a waist of 24.6 cm and effective edge of 118 cm. The board has a soft flex, poplar/aspen blend Hyper-core, biaxle glass weave, carbon stringer, twin shape, centered stance, Duel-Independent sidecut, and sintered base. The UNIV and Signal snowboard is built as a more medium flex park board made to handle large jumps and high speed landings.
